We begin Tuesday’s Premier League transfer rumour roundup with an update on Newcastle United and their ongoing pursuit of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. In recent days, it has been reported that the Spanish club’s owner, Peter Lim, is demanding a fee of around £34 million before he will consider a sale.

In a fresh twist, however, Cope journalist Perdo Morata has claimed that the Magpies have now tabled an offer of around £34.9 million. The ball is now said to be in Lim’s court, with Newcastle awaiting a decision on whether or not Valencia will deem this latest bid to be acceptable.

The 3AM Verdict: Mamardashvili is a fine goalkeeper, and one with more than enough talent to take the number one jersey at St. James’ Park. That being said, Newcastle cannot be held to ransom, and if Valencia refuse this latest offer, despite the fact that it appears to meet their demands, then perhaps the Magpies should begin to consider other alternatives.

West Ham close in on En-Nesyri

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet AS report that West Ham are ‘in the spotlight’ to sign forward Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla this summer. The 27-year-old has been on the Hammers’ radar for some time, but it is understood that their hopes of luring him to England have only increased since Julen Lopetegui became manager at the London Stadium. The Spaniard worked with En-Nesyri at Sevilla and it is supposedly his ‘big wish’ to be reunited the player.

The Morocco international’s contract in Spain lasts until 2025, and it is said that he will cost at least £17 million. En-Nesyri is also attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League. It is claimed that the forward is intrigued by the idea of playing the Premier League, but may see the Middle East as a better fit for him away from the pitch.

The 3AM Verdict: This feels like a doable deal. The price is affordable and Lopetegui’s presence should go some way towards convincing En-Nesyri too. The prospect of living in the Middle East may appeal to the Moroccan more, but certainly, from a footballing perspective, this should be something of a no-brainer.

Cunha on United radar

And finally, The Mirror report that Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been regularly scouted by Manchester United ahead of a potential summer swoop. The Brazilian is said to be ‘high on their list of targets’ ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

It is also suggested that United would be willing to double Cunha’s £60,000-a-week wage in a bid to prise him away from Molineux over the coming weeks. Failing that, a bid for West Ham star Mohammed Kudus could be considered. The Ghanaian previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

The 3AM Verdict: Both Cunha and Kudus have proven themselves to be fantastic attacking options in the Premier League in recent times, and United would do well to lure either to Old Trafford this summer. Price will of course be a factor, but provided either was affordable enough, this could be savvy business.
