We begin Tuesday’s Premier League transfer rumour roundup with news of a prospective cut-price swoop from Manchester United. According to RMC Sport, the Red Devils are one of several clubs keeping tabs on Red Bull Salzburg’s Oumar Solet this summer.

The centre-back is out of contract next year, and could be sold by the Austrian outfit over the coming weeks to avoid a potential free exit in 12 months’ time. With that in mind, a bid of £12.7 million could be enough to tempt Salzburg into a sale, with both Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart also watching on from Germany. Last month, West Ham were linked with a raid for the Frenchman.

The 3AM Verdict: United need defenders this summer, that much is clear, and in that regard Solet could represent a decent affordable option to bolster their backline. Injuries have been unkind to the 24-year-old over the past season, but there is no doubting that he has plenty of quality, and he could prove to be a canny acquisition.

Everton eye Arthur

Elsewhere, Italian outlet Tuttosport suggest that Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo could end up at Everton this summer. The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Juventus, but is unlikely to complete a permanent transfer to Florence.

Instead, the former Liverpool loanee could be in line for a sensational return to Merseyside, with claims that Goodison Park appears to be his ‘most likely destination’. It is understood that the Toffees have a ‘concrete interest’ in the South American, and that a deal could take shape in the next few days. West Ham are also credited with an interest.

The 3AM Verdict: Arthur certainly didn’t pull up any trees during his last stint in the Premier League, but he does have real pedigree, and this could still be a really decent signing for Everton, and a real statement of intent. The specifics of the deal remain to be seen, and of course, things could still fall through, but this is certainly an intriguing possibility.

Brighton open Summerville talks

And finally, Brighton and Hove Albion have opened talks with Leeds United over a potential deal for Crysencio Summerville, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Dutchman is expected to be in demand this summer, but it is the Seagulls who have made their move first.

Writing on X, the Italian reporter said: ‘Understand Brighton have made contact to start talks over Crysencio Summerville deal. Not an easy one with many clubs keen but Brighton have started initial talks to explore this possibility. Liverpool and Chelsea have been monitoring him in recent months, still open race.’

The 3AM Verdict: Summerville is a massive, massive talent, and it would be a huge surprise if he was still a Leeds player come the start of the new season. Where he ends up next is a matter of some debate, and Brighton will be hoping that they can steal a march on several bigger clubs by making their move early, but if the likes of a Liverpool do decide to firm up their interest, then it could be a really, really difficult transfer for Albion to complete.
