The Blues are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window

It promises to be another summer of tumult at Chelsea. Following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and the subsequent appointment of Enzo Maresca, the Blues are once again heading into a campaign amid a whirlwind of change.

But by no means will the only alterations come in the dugout. After finishing sixth, and with Champions League football very much the goal of the Todd Boehly project, it is expected that the Blues will look to strengthen in the transfer market once again. Before they can do that, however, and in an effort to balance their books as Profit and Sustainability Rules loom large, Chelsea could be forced into selling a number of recognisable first team names over the coming weeks.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at some of the more probable candidates who could be offloaded between now and the end of the summer. Check out the list below...

Conor Gallagher

A strange case to start us off. Gallagher has been a key player for Chelsea in recent times, but continues to be linked with an exit, and could ultimately be sacrificed due to his status as a homegrown player and what that would mean for the Blues’ finances. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are among those who are said to be interested - although in an ideal world you would imagine that Chelsea would much prefer to keep the midfielder if possible. He won’t leave for anything less than £50m.

Trevoh Chalobah

Another product of Chelsea’s academy system who could fetch a pretty penny, the defender looked as if his time at Stamford Bridge was running short during the early part of the campaign but has played a much more prominent role in recent months, and may just have done enough to convince the Blues to hang onto him. If they do decide to sell, you would imagine that Chalobah will have plenty of Premier League suitors.

Malang Sarr

A player so forgotten that even Mauricio Pochettino struggled to recall who he was. Sarr has been out on loan with AS Monaco, and by no means is it unimaginable that he could be lined up for a more permanent exit in the coming weeks.

Raheem Sterling

One of the bigger names who could be moved on, speculation suggests that Chelsea are eager to find a buyer for Sterling this summer, even if the player himself is fully invested in the project at Stamford Bridge. It is unclear at this stage who would be interested in signing him, or where he might end up, but you suspect that somebody, somewhere would be more than willing to take a chance on the 29-year-old.

David Datro Fofana

Shipped out on loan to Burnley in January, Fofana endured a mixed stint at Turf Moor, and returns to Chelsea having failed to properly reiterate his Premier League credentials. There is a chance that the Blues will look to find another temporary destination for the 21-year-old, but an outright sale cannot be fully dismissed either.

Levi Colwill

Much less likely to leave than others on this list, rumours continue to swirl around Colwill’s future nonetheless. Again, in an ideal world you would imagine that Chelsea would rather retain the England international’s services, but if funds are tight and the right offer comes in, perhaps they could be tempted into parting company with the 21-year-old. He was linked with a move to Liverpool last season, and they’re still thought to be keen admirers of the versatile defender.
