The Gunners are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer

Major international tournaments; the perfect opportunity for Premier League scouting departments to put their feet up, scran an entire box of Jaffa Cakes on the couch, and call it work. Every couple of years, the best and brightest of international football pit themselves against each other, and every couple of years, stars are subsequently made - or at the very least, purchased before flopping hard in whichever elite European top flight they inevitably end up.

Euro 2024 promises to be no different, and to that end, there are several players who Arsenal in particular would be well-advised to look out for as the action in Germany progresses. Some of these names have already been linked with the Gunners this summer, and certainly, all of them have the potential to be very astute acquisitions.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a closer look at four prospective options below...

Martin Baturina

They call him ‘The Next Modric’, which is either a ringing endorsement or incredibly lazy marketing, depending on how you look at it. Baturina is a 21-year-old Croatian midfielder who has shone in recent times for defending champions Dinamo Zagreb back in his home country, and unsurprisingly, his performances have started to garner attention from further afield. Arsenal have already been linked, as have Juventus, and the Gunners will no doubt be using Euro 2024 as a means of keeping tabs on the diminutive playmaker.

Georgiy Sudakov

The Ukrainian was largely anonymous during his country’s 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Romania on Monday afternoon, but don’t let one bad performance deceive you; Sudakov is a hugely exciting creative talent, and one who is being scouted by all kinds of continental heavyweights. Arsenal are understood to be amongst that throng, and with good reason. Described as ‘comfortably the best Ukrainian player still playing in war-torn Ukraine’, the 21-year-old is on the books at Shakhtar Donetsk, and is also on the radar of Chelsea, Tottenham, and Napoli, who had a bid rejected for him in January. Sudakov is expected to cost at least £42.3 million.

Brian Brobbey

Aside from having a ludicrously fun name that falls smack bang in the Venn diagram labelled ‘Mr. Blobby’ and ‘Scooby-Doo pronunciations’, Brobbey has been in electric form for Ajax this season, scoring 22 times and registering 12 assists in 43 outings across all competitions. He enters Euro 2024 with just two senior caps for the Netherlands to his name, but could very well add to those in short order. Especially given the recent news of Benjamin Sesko’s contract extension at RB Leipzig, the 22-year-old could be one for Arsenal to keep an eye on.

Johan Bakayoko

And finally, a flying Belgian winger who often draws obvious - but entirely justified - comparisons with compatriot Jeremy Doku, Bakayoko has been on the books at PSV Eindhoven since the age of 16, and contributed 16 goals and 14 assists to their Eredivisie-winning campaign this season. The 21-year-old himself has said that he wants to be close to lifting a Ballon d’Or in the next five years, and with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich circling already, perhaps that isn’t such a ridiculous aim after all.
